ISO 9001:2008 Successful Certification process coincides with HP Mile’s expanding customer base and new facility.
SYRACUSE, NY (May 11, 2009) – HP Mile, Inc., a Syracuse-based medical label printing company, has been recommended by their registrar for ISO 9001:2008 Certification after implementing a new Quality Management System over the past year and successfully completing a comprehensive audit. The stringent controls involved with printing for the medical and pharmaceutical industries have propelled HP Mile’s undertaking of the ISO-certification process.
ISO 9001:2008 Certification represents the International Organization for Standardization’s globally recognized standards of product and service quality. These sets of standards form a Quality Management System that is focused on making sure the company’s quality goals and objectives are being met and continual improvement is achieved. HP Mile was unconditionally recommended for registration by SRI Quality Systems Registrar, the company who performed the audit, after they had no negative findings or nonconformances during the process.
The application of the ISO 9001:2008 standard enables HP Mile to improve its overall business processes, increasing printing efficiencies and label product quality while reducing waste. ISO-certification also makes it possible to qualify to do business with new customers across the globe. As HP Mile develops its Quality Management System further, they expect to achieve even greater efficiencies.
“Our employees have always been trained in cGMP, and our stringent SOP’s which are ISO compliant. It was time to take the next step into certifying our overall Quality Management System as we expand our business. We are planning to move into a 20,000 sq. foot space where we will start off with two dedicated lines and have the ability to add several more as needed.” says Mike Brady, President at HP Mile.
HP Mile’s unique business model includes developing partnerships with customers. Dedicated, customer-specific converting lines are created, where a limited number of customers are serviced.
“This allows us to help control costs and reduce inventory. In fact, with one of our current customers, the line is set up inside of their pharmaceutical packaging facility and labels are produced working off of their production packaging schedule. That has eliminated the entire label inventory for that customer, and is very “green” as there is no shipping/trucking required and packaging boxes are recycled and re-used by HP Mile, rather than discarded.” Brady adds.
HP Mile currently operates 3 facilities in the Central New York area. Brady founded the company in 2002, capitalizing on over 50 years of his family’s combined experience in printing for the pharmaceutical and biotech industries.
“Our existing customers are delighted with our continued commitment to quality, and our efforts to become ISO certified.” says Brady. “Efficiency, quality control and customer satisfaction continue to be the keys to HP Mile’s success.”
